The difference between the two times is the checkpoints and the two rest stops. On a run of this length we count generously rather than tightly, and we would rather arrive early than explain a delay.
Two stops, both known before you set off
We stop twice: at Zafarana, roughly two hours out, and again at Ras Ghareb. Both have a petrol station, clean lavatories and coffee, and both are places our chauffeurs use themselves.
- Each stop takes 10 to 15 minutes, and both are already counted in the times above.
- With children or elderly passengers the chauffeur stops again, and the price does not change.
- We stop for fuel, prayer and rest, and for nothing else. No shopping stops are added to the route.

One rule we do not bend on this road
This is 450 km of open desert road with long unlit stretches and very little between the two rest houses. The chauffeur who drives it must be fully rested, and must not have driven a comparable distance the day before.
- At least 9 hours of rest before any night drive.
- No chauffeur drives more than 6 consecutive days.
If we cannot meet that rule on your date we say so and propose another day. We do not send a tired chauffeur down this road.
Know your chauffeur before you meet
The day before your journey, one message reaches you: the chauffeur’s name and number, the car photographed with its plate, and the pickup time.
- We do not publish photographs of our chauffeurs. We publish their names, their years of service, the languages they speak, and written standards you can read.
- The chauffeur’s number opens two hours before pickup and closes when the journey ends.
- If the chauffeur or the car changes for any reason, a new message reaches you before the appointment.

Would it be better to fly one way?

Do you drive it overnight?
Only under the rest rule above, and we would rather you set off early. Leaving between 05:30 and 07:00 puts you in Hurghada before the afternoon.

Whichever holds the party and the luggage without anyone spending 6 hours with a case at their feet. The fit check answers it in one screen, and we will say so if the class you have chosen is too tight.
What if the car fails this far out?
You hold an escalation number that does not go through sales. A replacement takes longer to reach you here than on the Desert Road, which is why the car for this route is assigned and checked the day before, and its plate and photograph reach you with the chauffeur's details.
