The airport is southwest of the city, about 50 km from the centre by road. For airport runs the lower figure is a clear road; peak hours and summer evenings run longer.
Alexandria as we drive it
- One airport, two namesSince September 2025 Borg El Arab's official name has been Alexandria International Airport, so your ticket may show either. It has two terminals; the second opened in 2025.
- The Corniche on a summer eveningIt is congested in the evenings in summer, and the usual way round it is the inland Mahmoudia Axis. Since 22 June 2026 the stretch from Montaza to El Saraya has had 5 lanes each way instead of 3.
- No Raml tram since April 2026The whole line is closed for rebuilding, with no announced date for its return. Replacement minibuses add to the traffic between Raml Station, Sidi Gaber and Victoria, so we allow more time for pickups in the centre.
- The coast road in summerIn July, August and September private cars are limited to 80 km/h on the Alexandria–Matrouh road between Kilo 21 and Kilo 153, so a summer drive to El Alamein takes longer than at other times of year.

- Alexandria International (Borg El Arab)In the arrivals hall of your terminal, at one agreed point named in your quotation.
- Sidi Gaber and Misr stationsCairo trains usually call at Sidi Gaber, so tell us where you will alight. The chauffeur is there 15 minutes before the train is due, at a point agreed in advance.
- Alexandria port, for ship passengersAt the port gate we agree before the ship docks, with the chauffeur holding a sign bearing your name.
- Corniche hotels and MontazaAt the hotel door. Hotels inside the walled Montaza gardens are reached through the gardens' gates, so give us the hotel's name as well as the address.
- Agami and King MarioutAt the address you give. If your compound registers visitors in advance, the chauffeur's name and the car's plate reach you the day before, for you to pass to its management.

Know your chauffeur before you meet
The day before your journey, one message reaches you: the chauffeur’s name and number, the car photographed with its plate, and the pickup time.
- We do not publish photographs of our chauffeurs. We publish their names, their years of service, the languages they speak, and written standards you can read.
- The chauffeur’s number opens two hours before pickup and closes when the journey ends.
- If the chauffeur or the car changes for any reason, a new message reaches you before the appointment.
What people ask about Alexandria
Our ticket says ALY. Is that Borg El Arab?
Yes. ALY is now the code for Alexandria International at Borg El Arab, which used to be HBE, so you may see either. ALY once belonged to El Nouzha airport, which has been closed since 2011.
We land at Borg El Arab and are staying at Montaza. How long is the drive?
65 to 90 minutes, as Montaza is the part of the city furthest from the airport, and a summer evening can add to that. The quotation includes 60 minutes of waiting from the actual landing.
Can the chauffeur come with us to the North Coast?
Yes. The car and chauffeur are yours for the agreed day, and the drive out, the waiting and the return go into one quotation. The coast has its own page.
